    32 Weeks

Big day of appointments. At OB, blood pressures are down, so increased meds are working. She still wants me on bed rest and to work from home, but she's very pleased with the bloodwork and making it to 32 weeks with no problems so far.

At Women's Hospital, I had a non-stress test and both babies did very well under the monitors. I had four big contractions that were over 1 minute in duration, but didn't feel a thing. The nurses were suprised. I've been diagnosed with an "irritable uterus", but I'm irritable anyway, so my uterus can be irritable too.

The ultrasound was interesting too. So uncomfortable when you're THIS big. Baby A (girl) is head down and right against my cervix. She is estimated to weigh 4lbs, 14 oz. already! Baby B (boy) is also head down, but a bit higher up and is estimated to weigh 3lbs, 15 oz. They aren't worried about the weight differences, but do expect him to weigh a bit less than his sister, who is taking up most of my uterus. Boy is still retaining fluid in one of his kidneys and it's little bigger this time, but we're still not worried about it. Cervix is 3.1cm, not dialated or effaced.

This means I have over 9lbs of baby in me now!!

So, we're doing great and things are looking like babies may make it as close to full term as we can get them.

    Bedrest!

At our OB appointment today, my blood pressure was 140/100 -- causing my OB great distress! We took a few bloodtests to rule out pre-eclampsia and HELLP and we've upped my blood pressure meds. I have to stay in bed, on my left side (preferably) and monitor my BP from home. So far, BPs are great when I'm laying down and awful when I sit up.

We have an OB visit, Non-stress test, and ultrasound on Tuesday, the 27th -- and will re-evaluate bed rest.

    Perinatologist Consult

At the request of our OB, we met with a perinatologist (OB High Risk Specialist) today about our "birth plan" and other issues.

Peri suggested that she will recommend not inducing until 38-39 weeks..not 37 weeks as we had discussed with our OB. (sigh)

She also suggested changing me to unfractioned heparin at 36 weeks because it has a shorter half life than Lovenox and will make it easier for my blood to be "unthinned" if a quick delivery is necessary.

Other than that, she's happy with my progress and thinks that I'm in no danger of having the babies early.

    29 Weeks

OB Appointment. BabyA (girl) HR was in the 150's and BabyB (boy) HR was in the 160's -- he was moving around so much we could barely hear the heartbeats. Fundal Measurment is 37cm. I gained 4 pounds in the last two weeks, so we're up to 19 pounds total. OB says I look swollen in the hands -- and that my exhaustion and umcomfortableness is to be expected. BP was a little high, but not out of my "normal" range, so we're going to watch it. OB want to me to have a consultation with a high risk OB (perinatologist) at U of M on Friday just to check in. Next u/s is scheduled for the last week of April and I'll be starting non-stress tests at 32 weeks (at my weekly appointments). No delivery date set. OB wants to schedule it for a day when she's on surgical rotation and the schedules are not out yet. So...we'll know in another two weeks.
