    Asleep in New Beds

It took a week but last night I popped my head in the kids' room to tuck them in and turn out the light and they were sleeping in their beds.
Freedom from their cribs meant that the twins would fall asleep on the carpet, sometimes blocking the door, and had to be put back in bed. The night before last Henry and Libby both wound up in the same bed but I think they've got it figured out now.

    Toddler Coinages

Henry and Libby have moved beyond mama and dada to invent words of their own. Henry's obsession with fire-engines, which frequently roar past our window on the way to the latest pile-up on Route 59, has produced "fu-fu". Libby has hit upon the all-purpose term "guck", applied to floor debris which she pops into her mouth, the contents of her diaper, or mashed up fig-newtons.

    Henry's Nickname

Libby has decided that Henry is now "Bobby." Obviously a version of brother but it does have a ring to it.

    Self-Inflicted Punishment

Although the children haven't been hurling themselves out of their cribs and seemed intent on setting toddler sleeping records, we've decided to put them in twin beds. Today is Day One and so far the twins seem to think that sleeping is passe.
